A Jackson County man was arrested Friday on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of listed precursors by the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office. Timothy W. Jones, 45, was arrested after Sgt. G. Johnson chased him near Greensboro. Before his arrest, Johnson said he saw Jones drop a baggie containing what seemed to be crack cocaine and called for assistance. Investigators at the scene smelled the odor of a chemical used to make methamphetamine and cleared the area. The Methamphetamine Decontamination Team responded for decontamination and containment of the materials. Jones is now out on bail, said Investigator Ulysses Jenkins, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office.
