Mystery woman hit, killed in Havana ........................

An unknown woman was hit and killed just north of Havana in the early morning hours last Friday. The pedestrian is described as a black female, approximately 35 to 35 years of age, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and weighing approximately 150 pounds, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol. At about 6:55 a.m., Roosevelt Rogers III, 32, was driving his 1999 Chevy Tahoe southbound in the inside lane on U.S. 27 North at Schwall Road, north of Havana. A 5-year-old minor was also in the vehicle at the time. Rogers collided with the pedestrian at the intersection of the roads, according to the report. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither the driver nor passenger were injured in the collision, and the incident caused $4,000 damage to the vehicle. The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene of the crash. Tests are pending to determine whether the pedestrian had been drinking prior to the incident.
